Long time no update....very sorry.

Life has been hectic but krystalcube continues to do music.

Instead of posting here, I have been posting articles on another

February flew away and into March now!

Hope all is well with you - krystalcube is doing pretty well.

Continuous apologies for not updating this blog.  While this blog is more comprehensive, please also be reminded that quick summaries are provided in the Japanese blog in English these days for convenience.

Final touches have been made to the mixes of my songs and mastering has been completed by end of now to the printer and presser goes my second CD!  Should be available by March end!  So exciting.  The album title is "krystalcube's world"

Meanwhile, I have done more than six gigs, from January to February.  One has been a relatively large one and scenes of this gig on Jan. 27 at Ginza's TACT may be viewed on USTREAM.  This gig was part of a 3 day special event known as "Otona Music 3 Days Special" (= Adult's Music Event) organized by MKD llc.  I'm not sure how long it will be posted but please enjoy while it's there.
Please visit:
krystalcube's section starts from around 14 min and 20 sec.

At MominokiHouse, Feb. 15, 2014
Mominoki House in Harajuku is Japan's legendary organic food restaurant.  In its almost 40 year history, they have had celebrities such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder come to dine and ended up doing some music, as you can imagine.  krystalcube has performed here a number of times now and like the food as well as the ambiance.
With all performers

Picture to the right shows all the performers that evening.  Great saxophone players Ryota Nomura and Motoyasu Kanai, singer song writer Tomorrow, Japanese cute idol Otoha and guitarist kaz.  There was heavy snow, a rare event in Tokyo, the evening before on Valentine's Day.  Still very cold evening but fun and warm in the restaurant.

March will be a special month for me as I've organized an event for the first time for Japan's White Day.  The Japanese have the tradition where the boys have a chance to appreciate the girls for what they've received in Valentine's.  Oops, also need to explain that in Japan, the girls give chocolates and express their love to boys on Valentine's Day.  Not sure how this happened but so it is.  White Day is in return.  So, krystalcube and her friend, Ai Kato who has established her healing business, Leaves of Love, are presenting a romantic and heart warming event on Mar. 14, 2014 designated as "White Day Special Live".  Will write more about this on my next post in a few days.

Also, on Apr. 15, krystalcube will be doing a CD release gig, "krystalcube's CD release and musicians' collaboration".  krystalcube would like to do her new songs from her 2nd album, "krystalcube's world".  Her producer and his handpicked musicians will be playing and krystalcube will be singing with a band for the first time.  How exciting as she likes to go acoustic most of the time.

Lots of things to look forward so please stay tuned.

Happy New Year 2014!

Yeah! 2014
The new year has begun and I am fully charged up for more adventures!

Wishing you all the very best to come.

Apologies for not updating the blog for more than a month.
November and December were quite hectic, finishing up recordings and last touches of my 2nd album yet to be unveiled.  I've done a gig for the first time on new year's eve including my latest track, "Restless Moments".  I have yet to fine tune it but have received positive response on this R&B number so far.

krystalcube 2013 in Review

"All Star" Performers at Harajuku MOMINOKIHOUSE

While encountering various commitments and challenges last year, I have managed to do approx. 40 gigs as many as in 2012, excluding private ones.  My deepest gratitude for all those guests who have come for me and my regular venues in Roppongi, Akasaka and Shimokitazawa that have always been supportive.  Without you, there is no meaning.  Also, I have been given the opportunity to play at new venues in Harajuku, Ginza and Akihabara via introductions from fellow artists and venues.  Thank you!  Looking forward to more to come in 2014.

with KAZU at Ginza TACT
krystalcube and Caramel (my Ovation guitar) also collaborated with many artists during the year, among them, KAZU Saito (acoustic guitar), kaz Yakushiji (guitar) and Nobushige Watanabe (bass) .
They've all enriched my gig in wonderful ways.

Festiive mood - @Shimokitazawa BREATH

krystalcube was somewhat playful for Christmas and employed her favorite OP-1 miniature synthesizer to play "Jingle Bells."

From late May, krystalcube began preparing for the second album.

Album's concept was crafted by producer MK, full name yet to be revealed.  Not a secret but just keeping it mysterious for now.  Based on this concept, I've probably written more than 25 songs over 5 months.  MK then chose 8 songs to be recorded for the album.  The final recording was completed on Christmas Eve.  While this was a challenging experience, I have really enjoyed the creative process.  Thanks to MK stretching me, I have come up with songs that I would probably have not written if it weren't for the concept and circumstance.  I've spent a good 6 months.  Currently, engineers are working on the mixing and mastering.  Album cover is still being discussed and I hope to finalize it soon.

The album is scheduled to be ready by early March for distribution.  I've really worked hard on this so please look forward to listening!  A word of appreciation to MK for being focused and patient throughout the process.

I am excited to start 2014 with full of energy to bring more happiness and abundance to our world.  Please join me in this movement.

As always, thank you for always supporting me.

I will try to update this blog a little more frequently...

Four More Gigs Left in 2013!

Time really flies! Today's Nov. 22nd..where I am and there are only four more scheduled gigs remaining for the rest of the year.

Everyone's busy during the holiday season but if you'd like some fun as well as relaxation, please visit krystalcube's gigs.

Nov. 29 (Fri)@ Roppongi Brave Bar 7:30 pm
Another Kingdom event:  Chinjyu Oasis
Chinjyu means "rare animal"  translated to "one of a kind" ...
krystalcube usually goes out of the ordinary and presents something a little special for the "rare animal" event.  Enjoy!
Please note that performance time is now 7:30 pm.

Nov. 30 (Sat)@Sengawa Putir Studio 7:40 pm
Venue is a studio operated by acoustic guitarist, KAZU Saito, with whom krystalcube collaborates quite often.  A cozy studio with good acoustics.  Will be performing for about 45 minutes so will do a wider selection of originals and covers, collaborating with KAZU again. Satisfaction guaranteed!
*Sengawa is along the Keio Line (can catch from Shinjuku)

Dec. 6 (Fri)@Akihabara MARZ DRESS HALL 7:00 pm
krystalcube performs at this venue once every 2 to 3 months; only 20 seconds from JR Akihabara Station (heart of Japan's electronic center) with excellent acoustics.  You will experience krystalcube, pure and simple, and will return home somewhat "healed" in your very special way.

Dec. 17 (Tues)@Shimokitazawa BREATH probably around 9pm
Final scheduled gig for the year collaborating with guitarist kaz Yakushiji. Haven't had a chance to collaborate with kaz so much this year so nice to end the year with original, 80's pops and some Beatles covers with a dash of Christmas!
Cannot miss!

Otherwise, busy trying to finish the next album...

Tokyo is getting colder; foliage wonderful and krystalcube wondering whether or not to switch on the heater right now.

Do take care and enjoy the rest of the year!

Summer 2013

Hot, muggy and stormy summer here in Tokyo 2013!

Deepest apologies!
It has been quite a while since my last posting.
I've been preoccupied with some family matters while managing to do several gigs in May, June and July at new venues as well as collaborating with other musicians.
As a sign of apology, allow me to share you the following links:
A very thoughtful client at my regular venue, Roppongi's Brave Bar has
been very kind to record a few of my selections during my little gig on June 11, 2013.

"What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life" (cover, Michel Legrand)

"Unleashed" - NEW SONG! , krystalcube original

krystalcube in Shibuya
Ever since June, I've started writing new songs for my next album.  This time, I'm collaborating with a seasoned Japanese musician and producer so you'll see more magics done to my songs.  Who? I'm going to save that news for later.

I'll spend most of August pursuing my other music activities (playing for quartets and smaller orchestras) and composing more songs.  I'm planning to do a gig on Aug 30 at Roppongi Brave Bar in the evening.  Please come enjoy great music and camaraderie with us.

More performances in autumn:

Sep 21 (Sat) @ Shimokitazawa BREATH 9:10 pm
Acoustic Live - The Singers Vol. 6

Sep 30 (Mon)@Ginza TACT
with KAZU Saito, acoustic guitarist

Oct 12 (Sat)@Harajuku MOMINOKI HOUSE

Meanwhile, please have a spectacular summer (winter for those in the Southern Hemisphere) and blessings to you.

See you soon.

love, krystalcube
